I have just spent almost two days on the Titicaca lake, and here are some images and stories.
The first image is from the amazing floating villages of the lake. Very special, and as the name implies they are floating and made out of natural materials.
Then it was time to conquer the lake with this impressive boat. If you are interested in history. Thor Heyerdal, the norwegian explorer used this type of boats as inspiration for some of his large rafts that he used on his journeys.
Here you have a view from one of the larger inhabitated islands that are in the lake. It is quite impressive
Here is the town square in the island, lovely
A view from the island, Bolivia is in the far horizon
The next part of the trip was a homestay at a local familly. This was quit special
The families met us at the port.
My “family” for the stay was “Sandra”, and she was very nice
The families arranged a party for us, and we had to dress up in the local garments.
Then it was dancing , we also participated ourself, but there is no images of that 🙂
This was the room for the night 🙂
In the morning we had to participate in normal chores at the farm. So first we had to bring the different animals to the fields.
Then it was time to help building a town house. I just carried a brick for a while…. But that is quite exhausting when you are at 4000 meters altitude.
Then it was time to say goodbye, and return to Puno
