Picture of the day: The whaling station of Grytviken

This is the old , retired whaling station of Grytviken, South Georgia. I guess this was the largest, and most efficient of the old stations down here. It was left in the fifties, and it serves here as a great piece of history. The picture shows only a small part of the operation, but you get a little image of the massive scale of the operation.

Picture of the day: Crowded place (Taj Mahal)

Todays stroll down memory lane is of maybe one of the most famous, most visited and impressive buildings in the world. The Taj Mahal in Agra, India. Shot way back in 2012 it was quite the view when it appeared thru the main gate for the first time. And as you can see, there where lots and lots of other people gathering to view the site.

Picture of the day: Fall is here

I was out and about today, and one of the more photogenic location that I know is the local harbour, and the ships entering , docking and leaving. Todays shot is from earlier today, and as you can se from the clouds , even if the weather is kind of ok , the summer is definitely leaving, and a colder and wetter season is getting closer.

Picture of the day: Cheesy

It is a festival  that includes a kind of farmers market in my hometown this weekend. There are a lot of travelling salesman from various places that have taken the trip, and are offering lots of exotic foods and produce that we normally do not find here. Like these two persons selling here speciality cheese. Excellent fun.

Picture of the day: Daily life on the Mekong river

Another from the archive, but previously not shown. This is shot at the mighty Mekong river in Vietnam last year. A very interesting place to be, with a lot of history and culture. The Mekong is the lifeline, and todays image is of  what I  guess are some local fisherman that are out doing what they to, surrounded by stunning scenery.

Picture of the day: A Fishing village in Vietnam

Still going down memory lane, revisiting old trips . This image is from a fishing village on the Island of Phu Quoc of mainland Vietnam. I got some help from a local  guide to take me off the beaten tourist track on the island, and I had quite a splendid time shooting a part of the island, that rarely is seen by tourists.

Picture of the day: So many coconuts…..

This little image is shot at the Mekong delta in Vietnam last summer. No stop in South East Asia should be without a trip to the mighty Mekong.  After some hours on the river we went ashore on this little family run coconut business.  This young man had the job of splitting them open, and as you can see of the piles of coconut on all sides of him. His job was done with skill and efficiency.
