The Caracara is a large Falk like bird that inhabits the southern oceans. I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of this magnificent creature on the East Falklands.

On the island of Barbuda that is the other island that makes up the country of Antigua and Barbuda there is a large frigate bird sanctuary. The sanctuary contains many thousand birds, and I was lucky enough to visit when it was mating season. One of the tell of this season is that the males show of there coloured throat pouches , which they inflate to attract females during the mating season. I am no expert when it comes to frigate birds , but I think image show the practice.

I have just come back from Antigua, and one of the thing that I found most fascinating was the Pelican. Big funny looking birds. Seeing these enormous birds taking of and fishing is an incredible sight.
